42nd Annual Melbourne HAMFEST

John Munsey Memorial Hidden Transmitter Hunt

Noon Sunday, October, 14, 2007

·         The hunt will start at exactly 1:00 P.M. and the first frequency will be 146.565. The hunt will end at exactly 3:00 P.M. and all transmitters will be turned off at that time. You may start from any location ON THE HAMFEST GROUNDS.

·         Hunt teams will consist of TWO members, a driver and a mapper to tell the driver which way to go. Passengers may ride with the hunt team, but should not take part in the hunt and must remain in the vehicle when a hide site is located. Passengers may not use, or handle any form of hunt equipment during the hunt.Passengers may not help the hunters in any way. This assures even chances for large and small groups.

·         All hunters and/or those participating in the transmitter must have paid admissions tickets.

·         There will be three transmitters to find. You must find them in order. That is TX #1, then #2 and last #3. Any transmitter found out of sequence will not be counted so hunt them in sequence.

·         At each transmitter there will be someone to give you a number to indicate that you have found that particular transmitter and the frequency of the next transmitter you are to hunt.

·         The winner will be the team finding all three transmitters in the least amount of time. If no hunter finds all three then the team finds the first two in the least time will be the winners.

·         After the hunt there will be a gathering of hunters and others at the Hamfest starting at 3:30 PM. That gives a full two hours to hunt the transmitters and 30 minutes to rest and get back to the Hamfest.

·         Awards will be given at the Hamfest and photos will be taken. Hopefully the photos will be published in CQ- VHF, winter issue.

·         Even if you do not win or do not find all three transmitters please attend this gathering. You will have an opportunity to talk with other hunters and perhaps learn some of their techniques.

·         Prizes are TBD at this time.

·         Hunters must bring their own equipment, only hidden transmitters and prizes will be provided.

·         The hidden foxes will listen on 146.610 (-600) for any emergency calls or for any hunters that have given up. They will not engage in any other conversation with the hunters.

·         IMPORTANT: ALL HUNTERS ARE TO MEET IN THE LOBBY AT 12:00 P.M. FOR FINAL INSTRUCTIONS AND CHECK OUT AND TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE HUNT.  THIS IS IMPORTANT AS YOU WILL BE UPDATED ON ANY CHANGES IN PLANS AT THAT TIME. THIS MEETING SHOULD TAKE LESS THAN 15 MINUTES AFTER WHICH HUNTERS GO TO THEIR VEHICLES AND DECIDE WHERE THEY WILL START FROM.
